Must have item
As you'd expect from Starrett, it's not only a beautiful tool, it's very well made and functional. I had cut down a shotgun barrel and used this wrench to tap a 3-56 thread for a new sight bead. The wrench held the tap firmly. For tapping small diameter holes, this is a must have item on your bench.
Would you recommend this? Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Worth the money
I don't recall when I bought this, but I know why I bought it. I was tired of collet type tap wrenches that did not hold the tap worth a darn! The first time I used this wrench, I knew I had made the right choice. The wrench holds the tap tight, but you can easily release it. I like that because I like to hand run the tap through the hole to feel if the threads are formed correctly. I highly recommend this tool. If you tap metal you will use this tool.

Indispensable Tool
I bought mine out of the #49 catalog and use it just about everyday. This is the perfect size handle for anything smaller than a #6 tap. It's small enough to not over-torgue/break the tap, which if you've ever tried to tap a mid rib bead (3-56) in a tough rib it's very easy to do. I also use mine sort of as pin vise. I have a solid carbide 1/8" straight flute drill, ground a flat spot on the end and clamp it into this handle to use when turing up the trigger holes in a Remington 700.
