79 DEGREE MUZZLE CROWNING CUTTER

Hardened steel, muzzle crowning tool cuts a slight (11° less than square) target chamfer on barrels. Gives good rifling protection without going too deep. 90° - 11° = 79°, hence the name. Eight, precision-machined flutes give smooth, chatter-free cuts to help eliminate extra lapping or stoning. ¼"-20 thread fits Brownells muzzle chamfering handles. Use with our muzzle pilots to ensure precise alignment with your bore. Available in ½" and ¾" diameters to accommodate most rifle/handgun barrel diameters.

Cuts beautifully
I got this to re-crown a Rossi .243 with a poorly executed muzzle. As soon as I started cutting it back with this crowning tool, I noticed that the original muzzle was not even square to the bore. No wonder accuracy was mediocre. I have not been to the range yet, but I can't wait to see if my beautiful new 11 degree crown shoots as good as it looks. It for sure couldn't make it worse!

Exceeded my expectations
1/2" version was out of stock for 7 weeks since I placed a back order. I went with smaller diameter in case my recessed crown going to be in the way with a larger cutter, I didn't want to cut unnessary metal and it was the right choice. I have a lathe but with Handi Rifle barrels the metal mounting stub is in the way so hesitantly I placed an order, thinking its going to leave chatter marks. I made my own pilot and used pin gauges to measure my barrel muzzle, it was more snug fit at .3015" while stock pilot is .300". The other end of the pilot is .190". For handle I used a scrap piece of aluminum I had laying around, drilled and tapped for 1/4-20. The result impressed me! No chatter marks and very smooth cut!

11 degree cutter
Worked as described, very sharp , easy crowning. I used it to crown a 9mm pistol barrel with the recommended pilot. DlC coating must be sanded off or any other hard finish on the muzzle. Thank you customer service for your help.
