How to Mount Your Rein Series Light from Cloud Defensive

Hi everyone, Caleb with Brownells here! In today's quick tip, I'm going to show you how to mount your Rein Series light from Cloud Defensive onto your firearm. Cloud Defensive has their own video on this, but I thought I'd share my take on it as well. Let's dive in!

Unboxing and Overview

When you open your packaging, you'll find the following items:

  • Rein Series light (we're using the Micro version, but the process is the same for the full-size)
  • M-LOK screws and nuts
  • Inline mount
  • Battery and charger
  • Mounting hardware for the pressure pad

If you’re new to these lights, check out our previous video for a detailed overview of their features.

Preparing the Light for Mounting

First, remove the tail cap and the head of the light to install the battery. The battery setup includes an orange adjustment tab, which you need to configure based on the battery type you’re using. For the best performance, I recommend using the battery that comes with the light.

Insert the battery (positive and negative ends as indicated), and adjust the tab inside the light’s body. You can use your finger, a screwdriver, or even the head of a 5.56 round to rotate the tab until it’s snug.

Deciding on Mounting Position

Decide where you want to mount your light. I prefer to mount mine at a 45-degree angle on the handguard. This allows for easy access and doesn’t interfere with other accessories. You can mount it on the side or bottom, but for practical use, a side mount is recommended.

Installing the Light on the Mount

Take the light and align it with the inline mount. Use the included screws to secure the light to the mount. If you want to use thread locker, apply a small amount of blue Loctite to the threads before tightening the screws. Make sure the light is facing forward and aligned properly.

Adjusting the Battery Cap

Once the light is mounted, adjust the battery cap to eliminate any play. This ensures a secure fit and prevents movement. The cap adjusts similarly to a castle nut, and you only need to rotate it until it’s snug.

Mounting the Light on the Firearm

Attach the M-LOK nuts to the mount. If you're unfamiliar with mounting M-LOK accessories, we have a dedicated video that explains the process in detail. Place the M-LOK nuts and screws through the slots in the handguard and tighten them down. Use parallel pliers or another tool to ensure they are securely fastened.

Setting Up the Pressure Pad and Cable Management

Remove the tail cap and insert the pressure pad cable through the tail end of the light. Screw the tail cap back on, ensuring the cable is oriented correctly for your preferred setup. The inline mount has built-in cable management channels to keep everything tidy.

Route the cable through the channels and secure the pressure pad to the desired location on your handguard. Leave a little slack in the cable to avoid putting stress on the connections.

Final Adjustments and Tips

After mounting the light and pressure pad, make any necessary adjustments to ensure everything is tight and secure. The pressure pad should be easily accessible, and the cable should be neatly routed to prevent snagging.

Conclusion and Final Thoughts

And that’s it! You’ve successfully mounted your Rein Series light from Cloud Defensive onto your firearm. This setup ensures your light is securely attached and ready for action.
