MAGNETOSPEED LLC - Sporter Chronograph

No nonsense chronograph, easy to use, fairly easy to setup and fairly easy to read. Ive had mine for 6-7 years (It was only $179 when I bought mine) and have had zero issues with reliability and long term durability, Ive measured 22lr, 22WMR, 5.56, .243, 6.5 Creedmore, .308, 7mm Remington Magnum, and .300 Win Mag. The only thing that could use improvement is the user interface on the display but if you get the XFR module that connects the display to your phone those problems are eliminated. It gives you all the information on a well laid out easy to use app on any phone with a standard 3.5mm audio jack. You can do everything without the XFR module but it just takes more time and lots more button pressing. The #1 trick I want to tell everyone is that you can erase all your velocity data by scrolling to the AVG velocity and then hold the button down. If you want to remove a single velocity reading you can select it and hold the button down to erase just that one.

When reloading I try to match the factory ammo velocities so I need accurate data for my guns on the factory ammo and my reloads. Was working on a 6MM ARC that I just built and "shot" my other chrono so decided to get one that will be "almost" impossible to shoot, had some data from the other chrono so compared it to this one and the velocities were identical. And as always Brownells has great products and some of the fastest shipping, even during the COVID nonsense.

Fantastic. Quick, easy and fits in my backpack. The one button to rule them all feature takes some getting use to, but easy enough to master. Wind, clouds, rain... nothing bothers the readings. I work up my own hand loads and only need to validate speeds on each set, it does this nicely.

Purchased the sporter kit three years ago and it has work wonderfully during that time. When last on the range, the display went blank so I replaced the battery and it still would not work. I called the Magnetospeed factory and they had me send the unit in for possible power cable problems. They ended up replacing the display unit without cost, even though the unit was well past the warranty period. I had the unit back within a week. Very happy with the customer service.

This is my second chronograph but first Magnetospeed chronograph. Fairly new to the PRS scene and kept hearing the pros talk about using a Magnetospeed. Truly amazing and accurate. The Sportster is both easy to use, accurate and dependable. More than what I expected! My loads are more consistent and shot groups are placed where I want them. Thoroughly impressed with my purchase and will definitely recommend to others!
