Brownells Return Policy

We aim to make returns simple and straightforward. If you're not satisfied with your purchase, you have 120 days to return most items.

  • A prepaid return label is available for $7.99 (deducted from your refund), valid for domestic U.S. returns only via USPS or FedEx (based on weight).
  • Proof of purchase is required. Only the original purchaser may return an item.
  • Items returned within 45 days are refunded to the original payment method. Returns after 45 days will be issued store credit via a Brownells Gift Card.
  • A 15% restocking fee may apply if items are not in resalable condition.
  • Brownells and Sinclair branded products are backed by our Forever Guarantee, with a few exceptions.
  • Items that are misused, non-returnable by law, perishable after 30 days, or lack proof of purchase will be returned at your expense.
  • All returns are inspected, and Brownells reserves the right to decline returns or exchanges. Additional restrictions may apply.
  • Brownells reserves the right to modify return fees, timeframes, and conditions at any time. The version of this policy in effect at the time of your return (not purchase) will govern, except where prohibited by law.

Returns At A Glance/FAQ

What items are not eligible for return?
Ammunition, body armor, powders, primers, most liquids, and other hazardous materials are non-returnable.
Firearms and FFL purchases fall under the manufacturer’s warranty.
Modified 80% receivers and frames cannot be returned.
Products restricted by law are also not eligible.

Is there a restocking fee?
Yes. A 15% fee may be deducted if returned items are damaged, altered, or not in their original condition and therefore no longer resalable.

Is there a fee for using a return label?
Yes. For domestic U.S. returns, a $7.99 fee is deducted from your refund unless the return is due to an error on our part. (e.g., wrong item or defective product).

Do you provide return labels for international orders?
We do not provide prepaid return labels for international orders. Customers are responsible for arranging and covering the cost of return shipping. We recommend using a trackable shipping method, as we are not responsible for lost or delayed return shipments.

What if my return requires truck freight?
If your return is too large/heavy for standard shipping, customers must arrange their own return shipping.

How should I package my return?
Use the original shipping box if available.
Do not attach labels directly to product packaging—use an outer box or padded envelope.
Items returned with labels on retail packaging may incur a restocking fee.

How long do I have to return an item?
You can return most items within 120 days. Refunds to the original payment method apply within 45 days. After 45 days, store credit is issued.

When will I receive my refund?
Refunds are generally processed within 3–5 business days of receiving your return.

What will my refund include?
Refunds include the purchase price of the item(s) and any applicable tax. Original shipping charges, FFL transfer fees, and hazardous material fees are non-refundable.
A 15% restocking fee and return shipping costs may also be deducted from your refund.

How is my refund issued?

  • After 45 days or expired payment method: Brownells Gift Card

What if I used a gift card?
You’ll receive your refund on a new Brownells Gift Card.

Can I return a gift I received?
Yes, but the refund goes to the original purchaser. Proof of purchase from their account is required.

Can I return online purchases to the retail store?
Yes. Bring your invoice with the item. Returns are processed the next business day; refunds may take 7–10 days to reflect.

Return of Firearm (FFL/NFA) Purchases

Firearm Sales
All firearm and serialized item sales are final. Returns, refunds, or exchanges are not accepted once transferred to your name.

If the item(s) are returned to us because the transfer cannot be completed—whether due to dealer refusal, failed background check, or missing documentation—a 15% restocking fee and shipping charges will apply.

NFA Items
Once Form 4 processing begins, returns or cancellations are not accepted. Returned NFA items incur a 15% restocking fee.

Firearm Defects
Inspect firearms thoroughly before transfer.
If defects are found after transfer, contact the manufacturer for warranty support.
Firearms are considered used once transferred—even if unfired.

Customer Service
If you discover a defect before completing the transfer, contact us at 1-800-741-0015 for a return label and exchange options.

Warranty
All new firearms ship in the original manufacturer’s box with applicable warranty and accessories. Contact the manufacturer for any warranty support post-transfer.
